Welcome Anna Mann

Anna Mann has joined the Department of Sociology in March 2024 as PostDoc researcher!

Anna Mann received her MA in Sociology at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich and completed her PhD under the supervision of Annemarie Mol and John Law at the University of Amsterdam with a thesis on «Tasting in Mundane Practices. Ethnographic Interventions in Social Science Theory». Subsequently, she worked at the Department of Anthropology at the University of Copenhagen. Currently, she is leading the SNSF Ambizione project «(Im-)Possibilities of letting life end. An ethnography of transformations in medical practice».

Anna Mann’s research focuses on emergences, enactments and transformations of «good medical care» at the beginning of the 21st century. It draws on actor network theory, material semiotics and other approaches developed in the field of science and technology studies (STS) and uses qualitative methods.

On April 19, she organizes a guest lecture by Klaus Hoeyer from the University of Copenhagen. Further information on this lecture entitled «Data-intensive medicine: is there a role for social analysis?» can be found here (PDF, 12 MB).
