We are delighted to welcome PhD candidate Matthias Klingler to the Department of Sociology! 

Matthias is interested in Life Course Sociology and Family Sociology. After completing his master’s degree at the University of Bamberg, Matthias joined us in 2023 November to pursue his doctoral research within the project Human Reproduction in Societies and Markets of the University Research Priority Program  Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2R.

His PhD thesis examines the impact of parenthood on the short- and long-term division of paid and unpaid labor within couples. A particular focus will be on the moderating role of structural conditions such as different family policy interventions and the positioning of Switzerland in an international comparison.
